Public:
All of Serenity's documentation lists her as Evelyn Reynolds. From her driver's license to her social security card. She seems to be a normal girl from Virginia who grew up in Richmond, got in a bit of trouble when she was younger but straightened out, finished high school and has been traveling since. She never stays in place for too long. She tends towards jobs that pay under the table but will take legit ones if push comes to shove.

Secret:
Serenity is a mutant. One who is hunted for what she can do. She carries false identification of every kind that she paid very good money to have made as legit as possible. She had quite a bit of trouble as a kid and into her young adult life before she seems to have vanished off the face of the earth. No death certificate. Nothing. Traced back, it's when Evelyn Reynolds first appeared.

Background: An Overview

Serenity was born to a lower-middle class family in Pennsylvania. The middle child with a brother and sister each, she led a fairly normal childhood. Her family wasn't living the dream but they made do. Bills may have been late but one way or another, they always got paid. Her life was decent. Good evening. Right up until she turned thirteen. The was the night her older sister stumbled in the house drunk. To this day, Serenity isn't sure what triggered her sister's mutation. All she remember is hearing voice, sneaking down the stairs and seeing her sister arguing with someone before bursting into flames. She remembers being terrified and rushing towards her sister and trying to grab her to pull her from the flames but they suddenly flared higher. The only ones to survive were her mother, her sister and herself.

The woman had only seen Serenity rush into the kitchen and then there were flames everywhere. Serenity was blamed and her sister was more than willing to keep the truth to herself. The two years were hell for Serenity. Her sister refused to have anything to do with her, her mother became abusive and she found herself locked out more than once. Serenity learned to survive on the streets. Pick pocketing, slight of hand, lock picking… She got into fights and was picked up for breaking and entering more than once. It was during this time that she fell in with some other mutants and discovered that she could amplify the powers of others as well as nullify them. Finally, at the age of sixteen, her mother threw her out, disowning her completely.

From then on, Serenity never stopped moving. She hitched from one end of the east coast to the other and back again, doing whatever she had to in order to survive. And not all of it is something she cares to remember. Eventually, at the age of twenty, Serenity simply vanished into thin air. She vanished because word had spread about what she could do. She could make mutants stronger… Or deposed others. She was being hunted. When she 'disappeared', Evelyn Reynolds was 'born'. From that moment on, it's the identity Serenity has used as she continues to travel, trying to stay one step ahead of anyone who may use her again.

Powers

Power Mimicry
Serenity doesn't realize it yet, but she can actually mimic the powers of others. For now, she has to touch them to do this. As she grows stronger, it will be a matter of focus. She can only borrow up to four powers at a time before the next one she borrows will overwrite the first she borrowed. The duration of how long she can keep the power is dependent upon the strength of the power itself. The stronger it is, the longer she can keep it. While she borrows it at full strength, she doesn't necessarily know how to control it.

Power Amplification
Serenity can amplify the powers of any mutant or powered person she touches. She isn't sure why or how it works, but she can. For now, that amplification only last about six hours. As it grows stronger, the duration will increase and she'll be able to do it by focusing on the person instead of needing to initially touch them to boost them. Even now, she doesn't need to hold on to them, simply touch them long enough to 'charge' them.

Power Nullification
Through an initial touch to someone powered, mutant or other, Serenity has the ability to 'shut off' their power for a limited amount of time. Currently, it lasts about six hours. Stronger powers may only weaken instead of 'turning off' completely. As she gets stronger, the duration of this will grow and touching won't be necessary but instead she'll be able to do it through focusing on the person.

Skills

Street Survival
Because of her past, Serenity is quite adept at slight of hand, pick pocketing and lock picking. Skills she picked up while living on the streets when she was younger and, despite seeming to be 'above it all' now, skills she keeps up just in case they're ever needed again.

Resources

Money
Serenity has held a fair number of different jobs since being on her own and she's learned how to save money so she always has enough to live on. It's never going to get her anything extravagant but she'll get by and that's what matters to her.

Pros

Jobs
Thanks to being on her own for so long, Serenity has learned to do a fair number of different kinds of jobs. Not always the most savory of employment but she is a capable waitress, bartender, store clerk, etc. Because of this, she normally has enough money to live by but not much more.

Cons

Hunted
Serenity is hunted, almost constantly, by various people of all kinds. Humans who want to use her to turn off the powers of other mutants. Mutants and other powered people who want to use her to make themselves strong or to deposed their enemies. She constantly has to stay one step ahead which isn't always easy. Someone's bound to catch up to and find her one day.

Hidden
Serenity has a past that she has worked very hard to bury and put behind her. She has paid a great deal of money for a 'new life' but, as is often the case with such things, it can be fragile and the right people with the right resources could learn of it.

Control
Even though Serenity can absorb the powers of others, she doesn't necessarily know how to control or trigger them. Should one of them manifest at the wrong moment, the results could be disastrous.

Draining
Whether it's because she's using her own energy to Enhance a power(s) or Suppress it, it can be draining for Serenity. The stronger the power, the more 'energy' she has to exert, especially during suppression. Such is also true if she's trying to enhance or suppress more than one power at a time. While she hasn't pushed herself so far yet, too far and she'll lose consciousness.
