Public: Clea remains very much out of the public eye wherever possible. Her affiliation to the Defenders demonstrates she takes an active part in protecting the world. The soft-spoken woman is far better known among the community of magical users. A former student at Kamar-Taj affiliated so strongly with Doctor Strange she has his surname, she takes an active hand in ensuring the responsible use of the mystic arts. She's a formidable opponent of harrowing potential to anyone threatening to abuse others with their supernatural powers.

Background: An Overview

Clea came as a refugee to Earth from the Dark Dimension, after extended imprisonment by her uncle, Dormammu. Eventually she came to Kamar-Taj as a disciple, aiming to remove the seals on her formidable mystical power placed by her mother Umar and her uncle to prevent her from coming into her full abilities. During her long studies, she slowly learned more of the Earth and developed affection for its people - none more so than the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth. Committed to the principles of wise use of magic, she aimed to strengthen the mystic arts through many misadventures with other sorcerers and the Defenders, whom she joined. Dormammu's endless attempts to conquer her adopted home brought Clea into direct conflict with him. It has only been in the past decade she rightly achieved the title of Sorceress Supreme over the Dark Dimension by contending against her very family. She seeks to build alliances and associations with other dimensional mystics, and her strengthening magical powers have made her an adversary to many dark powers.

Background: The Details

Clea is the product of an ill-starred affair between forbidden lovers. Umar, an exiled Faltinian, seduced Orini, a prince of the Mhuruuks who ruled the Dark Dimension. Umar and her brother Dormammu claimed the dimension by conquest, and Clea's origins remained heavily shrouded by her parents. Nonetheless, the girl demonstrated such magical potential she alarmed Dormammu; unsurprising as the offspring of a being of pure magic and an exceptional magic user. Nonetheless, she refused to become one of his worshipful acolytes, shielded in part by Umar. The girl became her mother's weapon in sprawling schemes that built up her deep resentment as she grew. In the end, Dormammu frequently sealed her growing mystical abilities as a punishment and exiled Clea to curb her mother's ambitions. In one such instance, the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth crossed paths with the young woman, and freed her from a pocket dimension.

The Sorcerer Supreme then was Yao, later the Ancient One. Their interactions set an escape path for many years into the future, when another banishment brought her eventually to Kamar-Taj. The Ancient One brought her to his sanctuary to train in the mystic arts, aiding her with focus and shattering the many seals used to keep her power in check. Clea at first resisted an alien world with little in common to her own home, but experience and the warm reception by other students supplied the affection and family she never had. So too in time she and Stephen Strange fell in love. Their adventures spanned the stars and dimensions, often as much on Earth. During certain periods of separation, she eventually bore his daughter and concealed Sofia's existence to prevent her Faltine family and their enemies from using the child as a weakness.

Clea's rise as the Sorceress Supreme of the Dark Dimension balances with the fact she's also the Dark Dimension's rightful ruler - whatever Dormammu thinks. Sorcery
Clea is one of the mightiest sorcerers in many dimensions due to her lineage and her training. Her magical arsenal is very wide and varied, including but not limited to energy blasts, teleportation, shields, item conjuring, exorcism, divination, and much more.

Skills

Occult
Clea has spent millennia actively researching and documenting aspects of the occult. She speaks knowledgeably of interdimensional beings, relics or grimoires, and arcane phenomena. Personal exploration broadens her background at every opportunity. Though not exhaustively familiar with every aspect of the occult (and how could she be?), she can make educated guesses and extrapolate correctly with that deep background.

Resources

Sorceress Supreme
Clea holds the title of Sorceress Supreme of the Dark Dimension, giving her greater magical abilities and command over a larger amount of ambient magical energy than other beings. She is tasked to keep the dimension safe from other mystical threats and incursions — though her very own uncle, Dormammu, makes this difficult. She can contain more magical energies than even her Faltine-Mhuruuk physiology would allow, and wield them freely. She is capable of fighting other highly competent magic users to a standstill and channeling considerable power on her home turf.

Clea is functionally immortal, neither aging or suffering from any disease, after defeating Death in a trial.

Only one Sorcerer Supreme can exist per dimension, and as a follower of the Vishanti, she is considered a candidate if the current Earth-bound Sorcerer stepped down or failed.

Dark Dimension
As the rightful ruler of the Dark Dimension, Clea may harness any of its abundant resources and call upon her loyal subjects, primarily the native Mhuruuks.

Pros

Power Source
As a member of the Faltine race, Clea is a mystical being and naturally generates her own magical power she can use to fuel her spells rather than being forced to call on the power of other beings only. the downside to this is that she might be attractive to sorcerers who would like to use that power source for their own ends.

Falteen
Not being human, Clea is stronger and more durable than a normal human. She cannot lift cars, but she certainly needs no help moving a couch up several flights of stairs on her own without a rest. She can take more of a beating than a normal human could and is correspondingly more resistant to temperature extremes. She is also functionally immortal, though she does age (if extremely slowly).

Cons

Dormammu
Clea is the only niece of Dormammu, the hostile flame-headed energy being constantly striving to destroy the Earth by drawing it into the Dark Dimension. Her existence remains a perpetual thorn in his side, as the rightful ruler of the dimension and its sorcerer supreme. She honours the Vishanti, one of his eldest enemies. Thus she's strongly in his bad books and he would love nothing more than to bring her to heel. Their family connection is known to very few people and might cause considerable trouble for Clea if widely broadcast.

Dark Dimension
Clea is the Sorceress Supreme of the Dark Dimension. Her power levels thus are greatest on home ground, where her powers make her even a contender against Dormammu — and doubly so when she has the Flames of Faltine. When on Earth, she experiences a waning of power. Though still a top-tier contender, she is not quite the equal to the current Sorcerer Supreme drawing on the Eye of Agamotto or any number of Vishanti relics. She cannot easily draw on the dimension's power without added concentration to fuel her spells.
